Introducing the PG-9172, Comtrend’s newest Powerline Ethernet Adapter that offers vastly increased speed, interoperability, and HD IPTV support.
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2014
Comtrend, a leading designer and manufacturer of broadband communication equipment, announced today its new PG-9172 Powerline Ethernet Adapter. This industry-leading G.hn adapter is the first to pass HomeGrid Forum certification. This leap in technology not only offers a PHY rate of 1Gbps, but also stabilizes the home networking industry via standards-based communication that crosses all the popular mediums, from power line to phone line to coax.
“Comtrend is proud to have reached this milestone,” said John Castreje, General Manager of Comtrend North America. “Our team worked non-stop on the certification and today, Comtrend is the first to have crossed this finish line. We believe that G.hn is a promising standards-based home networking technology that can make home/office networking quite simple for customers. Just as USB let people connect computer accessories, G.hn can do the same by allowing them to plug into their network through power lines, phone lines, and coaxial cables. Plug and play home networking with gigabit speeds is a winning combination for our customers today.”
The Powergrid 9172 offers the best performance over in-home electrical wiring, with more than 4x data rate versus legacy technology. Our G.hn adapter offers coexistence with legacy products including deployed UPA devices, interoperability with future G.hn certified devices, and dual TCP/IP with IPv6 stacks built-in. In addition, the Powergrid 9172 is ideal for IPTV deployments with the most efficient packet inspection for multicast traffic and the ability to set 8 different levels of packet prioritized QoS.
John DiFrenna, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, adds, “We are obviously in an age of technological independence, where people do more for themselves. They want the freedom to move their Ultra HD TV anywhere in their home and this is easily done with G.hn Powerline device. There are typically 10x more electrical outlets than cable/phone outlets in a home- that’s quite a bit more freedom. The PG-9172 with G.hn is a great addition to our portfolio of Powerline options.”
The PG-9172 is available to select customers and partners today with general availability in Q4, 2014.
