IPv6 Support

  • Comtrend’s IPv6 Support

In February, 2011, the last top level block of free IPv4 addresses was assigned. As the remaining addresses are depleted, IPv6 protocol becomes a necessity. In perspective, IPv4 allows 232 addresses, whereas IPv6 allows 2128 addresses- ensuring that the World Wide Web routing will be free from such limitations for the foreseeable future.

To assist in migrating your network, many of Comtrend’s products already allow IPv4 and IPv6 by supporting a dual-stack implementation. This gives you the ability to run IPv4 and IPv6 simultaneously. Products ranging from single-port modems to VDSL2 bonding gateways support this new Internet Protocol today. All new products are being released IPv4 and IPv6 compliant.
